Custom apps, built and looked after
Custom business software, built around how you already work.
When the jobs sheet has three versions and the real list lives in a group chat, it's time for an app. We build one around your fields, your steps and your names for things, then keep it running.
describe your software
Describe the software you wish you had.
Four quick steps, mostly taps. Your answers build a brief as you go. Send it, and we reply with what we'd build first and roughly what it would cost.
What should it keep track of?
Tick everything. Most businesses pick two or three.
what we build
What custom business software can be.
A custom app is software built for one business's way of working, instead of a product built for thousands. For a small business it's usually one of these, or two of them joined up.
Job tracking
Every job, who's on it and where it's up to, on everyone's phone.
Tool and equipment registers
Who has what, which site it's on, and when it's due back.
Quotes and pricing
Quotes built from your own price list, in your format.
Client records
Contact details, job history and the follow-up you promised.
Bookings
Appointments and site visits, with reminders that send themselves.
Checklists and inspections
Site checklists with photos and sign-off, instead of paper forms.
an example
A four-person electrical business, before and after.
An illustration of the kind of app we build, not a client story. If the left-hand column sounds familiar, so will the right.
Jobs
A shared spreadsheet in three versions
One job list, the same on every phone
Who's on what
A group chat at 7am
Each job shows who's on it and when
Tools
Whoever had the drill last
Check-out and return, with an alert when it's overdue
Quotes
A Word template, copied and edited
Built from the price list and sent from the app
Invoices
Chased from memory
A reminder goes out when one is overdue
starting points
You don't pay to build from zero.
Most small businesses track the same few things. We're building three apps as starting points, and yours begins from whichever is closest.
Tool & Equipment Tracker
Know where every tool is, who has it and when it's due back. Gear stops walking off between job sites.
Task & Job Organiser
Every job, task and work order in one list. See what's done, what's waiting and what needs you today.
Client & CRM Tracker
Client details, job history and follow-up notes in one place, so no customer slips through the cracks.
the honest answer
When is a custom app worth it?
When an off-the-shelf product does nearly everything you need and you can live with the rest, use it. It'll be cheaper, and we'll say so in the chat.
A custom app earns its place when the product doesn't fit. You've tried two or three, and there's still a spreadsheet on the side holding the thing they can't. Or you pay per person for twenty features and use four. The test is simple: if your team works around the software, the software is wrong.
Custom used to mean a big upfront build and a developer who disappeared afterwards. We do it the other way: a small first version, then changes when you ask, on the same monthly fee as your website.

questions
What owners ask us about custom apps.
Something else on your mind? Ask it in the free chat.
- How much does a custom app cost for a small business?
- Your own business app comes in Organised, AU$299 a month, alongside your website and Google listing. An app built around a process nothing off the shelf fits is Tailored, from AU$499 a month, quoted after the free chat. No setup fee and no per-seat charges.
- Is custom business software the same as a custom app?
- For a business our size, yes. We call it an app because that's how you use it: open it on a phone or a computer and get on with the job. Underneath, it's custom software built for your business and nobody else's.
- Does it work on a phone?
- Yes. The apps run in a web browser, so they work on a phone, a tablet or a computer, and nobody has to install anything from an app store.
- Can I ask for changes once it's built?
- Yes, and you should. The first version is the simplest one that fixes the problem. After that you tell us what's missing, and we build it. Changes are part of looking after the app.
- Can it connect to the software I already use?
- Often. If your accounting, booking or email software lets other apps connect to it, we can link the two so details don't get typed in twice. We'll check yours in the free chat.
- Why not just use an off-the-shelf app?
- If one fits, you should. Custom makes sense when you've tried a few, kept a spreadsheet on the side anyway, and are paying for features you don't use while missing the one you need.
